Your Cable Is Stressing Your DUT

A stiff microwave cable doesn't just sit there. It pushes, pulls, and twists against every connector it's attached to. In multi-port setups — where four, six, or eight cables are attached simultaneously — that cumulative force is measurable, damaging, and expensive.

Connector Wear

Repeated cable torque on 1.85 mm and 2.4 mm connectors loosens the joint over time. You replace connectors. You re-calibrate. You lose trust in your measurements — all because the cable was fighting the interface.

Multi-Port Setups

Six cables attached to a DUT under test means six spring-back forces acting simultaneously. In wafer probing and antenna characterization, this mechanical stress can physically move the DUT — invalidating the measurement.

Tight Rack Routing

Standard armored cables in a congested ATE rack fight for space, bend sharply, and create constant mechanical tension on port connectors. A 9.5 mm OD cable where you need a 3.7 mm one is a daily engineering compromise.

The solution

Flexible. Phase-Stable. Gentle on Connectors.

The 2 Series was engineered for exactly this environment — intensive microwave measurement where cables flex constantly and DUT connectors must survive thousands of connection cycles. Three construction types let you match the cable to the specific demands of your setup.

  • Low Repulsion — Protects DUT Connectors
The 2 Series minimizes the spring-back force acting on connected ports. In multi-cable setups, this translates directly to longer connector life, more repeatable connections, and measurements you can trust.
  • Phase Stability Under Static Bending
Routed, bent, and held in position — the 2 Series maintains phase stability in fixed-position measurement applications. Consistent results across every measurement session.
  • Three Construction Types for Every Environment
Standard armored for bench durability. Non-armored ultra-slim (down to 2.5 mm) for congested routing and ATE racks. Lightweight armored for fixed internal wiring where protection matters but weight does too.
  • Four Frequency Variants: 26.5 to 67 GHz
    MWX221, MWX241, MWX251, MWX261 — all 50 Ω, all RoHS compliant, operating from –30 to +85 °C. Matched-phase options available for differential and multi-port setups.
  • Lengths Up to 5,000 mm
The MWX221 (26.5 GHz) and MWX241 (40 GHz) support assembly lengths up to 5,000 mm — the longest in the 2 Series — for large bench or system-level setups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to specify and order the right 2 Series cable.

What does 'low repulsion' mean, and why does it matter?
Repulsion is the spring-back force a cable exerts on a connector after being bent. In multi-port setups, a stiff cable pulling sideways on a 1.85 mm or 2.4 mm connector can loosen the joint, cause intermittent contact, or permanently damage the connector interface. The 2 Series is engineered to minimize this force — protecting both the DUT and the measurement.
What is the difference between Standard, Non-Armored, and Lightweight Armored types?
Standard (armored) uses an SUS steel spiral with SUS wire braid — durable for bench use. Non-armored removes the outer armor for extreme flexibility and slim OD (down to 2.5 mm at 67 GHz) — ideal for tight routing or weight-sensitive setups. Lightweight Armored uses an aluminium RAS spiral — lighter than standard, suited for fixed internal wiring where some protection is still needed.
Can I get matched-phase pairs for differential or multi-port testing?
Yes. Matched-phase options are available across the 2 Series range. This is critical for differential signal testing and multi-port VNA configurations where electrical length consistency between cables matters. Specify this when requesting a quote.
What connector types are available?
MWX221 supports SMA, 3.5 mm, N, and SSMA — the widest choice in the family. MWX241 supports 2.92 mm, SMA, and N. MWX251 uses 2.4 mm or 2.92 mm. MWX261 uses 1.85 mm (VMS/VFS). Contact us to confirm availability for your specific port configuration.
How long are typical lead times from Israel?
Koto Electronics holds Israeli inventory of Junkosha products. Standard variants ship in approximately 11 business days. Contact us for current stock levels on specific variants.
When should I choose the 2 Series over the 0 Series?
Choose the 0 Series when maximum phase stability under bending is the priority (VNA port extensions, mmWave to 145 GHz). Choose the 2 Series when cable flexibility and low repulsion force are the priority — typically in multi-port bench setups, densely routed racks, or when connector longevity on the DUT is a concern.
