The Cable Your Vacuum Chamber Can't Afford to Compromise On.
Standard coaxial cables contaminate TVAC chambers and shift their characteristics at temperature extremes. Junkosha's EMF-12 is built from fluoropolymer throughout, meets ASTM-595, and delivers phase stability across the full thermal vacuum cycle.
What Your Standard Cable Is Doing to Your Vacuum Chamber
The Cable That's Contaminating Your Vacuum
Every standard coaxial cable in your vacuum chamber is off-gassing — plasticizers, binder residues, moisture. You can't see it. But it reaches your DUT, your optical surfaces, your sensors. You may be testing space equipment in an environment with more contaminants than the one you were trying to avoid.
Phase Drift That Ruins Your Calibration
In a TVAC chamber, temperatures swing from -100°C to +100°C within a single cycle. A standard cable shifts its electrical characteristics. Your room-temperature calibration is no longer valid. You're measuring incorrectly and don't know it.
Space-Qualified Hardware — 12 Weeks Away
TVAC-qualified coaxial cables aren't on a shelf nearby. They come from Japan, Germany, or the USA. Lead time: 12 weeks. No local technical support. And if you have a question about connector options, lengths, or types — you send an email overseas and wait.
Junkosha EMF-12 — Space-Qualified, Vacuum-Ready
Built from fluoropolymer throughout. Qualified to ASTM-595. Available with vent-hole connectors and in two performance types.
TML < 1.0%, CVCM < 0.10% — ASTM-595
The EMF-12 meets ASTM-595 requirements for vacuum environments: Total Mass Loss below 1.0% and Collected Volatile Condensable Materials below 0.10%. Tested and qualified for space environments. Your vacuum chamber stays clean.
Phase-Stable Across the Full Temperature Range
The EMF-12 Phase Stable type minimises temperature-induced phase variation — so your room-temperature calibration stays valid when the chamber reaches extremes. Your measurements are reliable across the full TVAC cycle.
Fluoropolymer Throughout
The cable jacket and heat shrink tube are modified to fluoropolymer materials — the industry's lowest-outgassing compounds. No plasticizers. No lubricants. No surprises in vacuum.
Vent-Hole Connectors for Vacuum Pump-Down
Vent-hole connectors (V-suffix variants) allow your chamber to reach full pressure faster by eliminating air trapped at the connector. Available in SMA, 3.5 mm, 2.92 mm, 2.4 mm, and 1.85 mm — with or without vent holes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Phase Stable and Low Insertion Loss types?
The Phase Stable type minimises temperature-induced phase variation — suited for TVAC calibration and measurements that must remain consistent across temperatures. The Low Insertion Loss type delivers lower insertion loss — suited for measurements where total signal loss is more critical than phase stability.
What is a vent hole and do I need one?
A vent hole is a small opening in the connector body that allows trapped air to escape during vacuum pump-down. Without vent holes, trapped air slows chamber pump-down and can cause connector damage under differential pressure. If the cable will enter a vacuum chamber, V-suffix variants are strongly recommended.
What are ASTM-595 requirements and why do they matter?
ASTM-595 is the space industry's accepted standard for testing material outgassing in vacuum. It requires TML (Total Mass Loss) below 1.0% and CVCM (Collected Volatile Condensable Materials) below 0.10%. Materials passing this test do not contaminate sensitive components such as optics, IR sensors, and painted surfaces in the space environment.
Can I order custom lengths and connector configurations?
Yes. The EMF-12 is available with different connector combinations (male/female) at each cable end, various lengths, and with or without vent holes. Contact Koto Electronics for custom configurations.
