World's First DC to 250 GHz Coaxial Cable Assembly — MWX0A5
The MWX0A5 is not an incremental improvement — it is a category-defining product. No other commercially available coaxial cable assembly covers DC to 250 GHz. Junkosha achieved this by combining their ePTFE dielectric with a 0.5 mm coaxial connector developed in close engineering collaboration with Keysight Technologies, the test and measurement company that has defined the 0.5 mm connector interface standard.\n\nAt 250 GHz, the wavelength in free space is 1.2 mm. Maintaining coaxial mode propagation and suppressing waveguide modes at these frequencies requires dimensional tolerances and dielectric homogeneity that standard cable construction cannot achieve. Junkosha's ePTFE tape-wrapped dielectric, used across the EMF cable series, provides the consistent relative permittivity and low loss tangent required to push performance to this frequency.\n\nInsertion loss at 250 GHz is approximately 7 dB — the performance benchmark published with Keysight's VDI frequency extender systems used in 5G NR FR2+, satellite communications, and radar cross-section characterization. Phase stability under mechanical flex and thermal cycling meets vector network analyzer requirements.\n\nThe primary application is on-wafer probing of next-generation semiconductor devices: advanced packaging interconnects, AI accelerator chiplets, and sub-THz integrated circuits under development at leading fabs worldwide. It is also used in antenna pattern measurement and sub-THz spectroscopy.\n\nAvailable in Israel through Koto Electronics.
