Junkosha Extends VNA Cable Performance to 190 GHz for D-Band Probe Systems

The D-Band Challenge

For years, 145 GHz has been the widely adopted ceiling for flexible coaxial cable assemblies used in VNA and probe station measurements. As demand for data bandwidth drives communication research into the D-band, systems require specialized D-band probe stations and vector network analyzers (VNAs) capable of characterizing channel behavior and antenna modules at extremely high frequencies.

Introducing the MWX009: 190 GHz Flexible Coaxial Cable Assembly

Launched at the IEEE International MTT Symposia (IMS), Junkosha's MWX009 is a new flexible coaxial cable assembly designed to support a wider range of probe system applications as the industry transitions toward higher frequency testing infrastructure. Compatible with 0.5 mm and 0.8 mm connector interfaces, it enables operation up to 190 GHz and 167 GHz respectively — directly addressing emerging requirements in high frequency test environments.

The cable's superior electrical performance is enabled by Junkosha's custom expanded PTFE (ePTFE) dielectric layer technology. This delivers low insertion loss and excellent return loss — meaning the MWX009 is not just reaching 190 GHz, but reaching it with the signal quality required for precision measurement and validation.
